Sale of Steamboat Ski Area Final

New ownership will likely expand interest in Steamboat Market

An exciting next chapter for Steamboat Springs began today as the new joint venture of KSL Capital Partners and Henry Crown and Company completed the purchase of Intrawest Resort Holdings and Mammoth Resorts.

Interim CEO Bryan Traficanti said in a news release "We believe that each resort brings something different to the company, and our goal is to preserve the unique character and culture of each while also building something greater. Supported by affiliates of KSL and HCC, this new organization is well positioned not only for continued growth, but also to bring more value to our guests, more opportunities for our employees, and more investment into our local communities."

Aspen Skiing Co. has long been respected as a visionary leader in the ski industry, and the buzz around Steamboat is an optimistic outlook for what this means for the future of our resort. In partnering with KSL, owners of Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows ski resorts in California, the new owners of Intrawest and Steamboat bring a strong history and knowledge of the ski resort industry.

With the transaction complete, I expect expanded interest in the Steamboat market and heightened awareness of the value proposition Steamboat offers as compared to other resort ski towns. To find out what this might mean for you and your real estate strategy, give me a call.
